Mr. Wood brings National Capital over 40 years of diverse experience in the global chemical industry. In his capacity with the firm, he focuses on both acquisition and divestiture engagements.
He started in the industry as a production engineer with PPG Industries in 1970 where he had a 19 year career rising up the ranks and having management and supervisory roles in Manufacturing, Operations Planning, Planning and Development, Senior Process Engineering, Project Engineering and Raw Materials Purchasing. Tom joined Lever Brothers in 1989 as its Director of Raw Material Purchasing and Export Sales. He was a key player instituting a Supply Chain “Total Systems Effectiveness Process” which generated annual savings of $100M per year. Tom joined The Valspar Corporation in 1995 and was a senior leader in its globalization efforts. During his time with Valspar, they globalized the business and increased sales by a factor of 5 through internal growth and 30 acquisitions. He was a key due diligence team member and leader of the Purchasing and Supply Chain integration of all 30 acquisitions. Tom also managed the Global Purchasing, Logistics and Supply Chain functions of Valspar where he spearheaded an effort to improve the professionalism of the global organization while reducing Purchase and Logistics expenses as a percentage of sales by approximately 40% over an 8 year period.
Mr. Wood has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University and an MA in Management and Supervision from Central Michigan University.
