James F. Obendorfer (Board of Advisors)

James Obendorfer is currently an independent consultant on Information Technology Services for government requirements. He has 46 years of experience in the Government I.T. Business, both in Federal and State & Local sectors.

Jim spent 5 years of active duty with the US Army after graduation from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He had company grade assignments in the 18 Airborne Corps followed by a special assignment with NATO Headquarters in Paris France. He was in charge of all NATO Cryptographic Communications.

He resigned his commission and joined the Federal Reserve System of IBM. During his 32 year career with IBM he served in various engineering, marketing, business development, systems integration, and executive management positions. Jim was senior engineer on the SAGE (semi-automatic ground environment) system, the first real time system ever developed.

He was a Branch Manager for IBM in New Orleans, Louisiana. Later, special assistant to the President of the Federal Systems Division, Director of Marketing and Sales for the Federal Systems Division Director of Civil Programs, The IBM Senior Executive for DoD and Classified Special Projects. His last full time position with IBM was as Director of the IBM Federal Integrator Channel. He retired from full time employment with IBM in 1991 and founded his own consulting business. He continues to provide support to IBM, the federal government and a number of other government contractors.

Jim is very active in government / industry partnership programs, serving on various committees and boards. He is currently on the Board of AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronic Association) serving on the Technical Committee and the Strategic Development Committee. He is on a committee of the ITAA (Information Technology Association of America) and he is a past Vice-Chairman of the IAC (Industry Advisory Council of the American Council for Technology). He has been honored twice as a member of the prestigious Federal Computer Week top 100 I.T. Executives in Government and Industry. And in 1997 was awarded the Information Technology Outstanding Individual Contributor of the Year.

Jim attended John Carroll University where he studied engineering before attending West Point. He received a BS in Engineering from the United States Military Academy and an MBA in finance and Business Administration from George Washington University. He and his wife reside in Potomac, MD. They have six children. He retains top Secret and Special Access Clearances.
